“People Behaving Badly: One Year Later” (via Stanley Roberts at KRON 4-San Francisco)

Thanks to Mr. Roberts for calling attention to this ongoing problem, which still exists at Derby and Warring, and elsewhere in our community. His report, in conjunction with the recent press release from the Berkeley Police Department, helps frame the issue of pedestrian safety appropriately by challenging drivers in Berkeley to be accountable for their choices while behind the wheel. When you consider the fact (as reported by the Berkeley PD) that in each of the city’s three pedestrian fatalities last year, all three pedestrians were in the crosswalk when they were hit and killed, in conjunction with data from the Office of Traffic Safety that calls Berkeley the most dangerous city its size in terms of pedestrian injuries in California, it becomes clear that it’s time for drivers to wake up and change their driving habits, especially while driving in our densely populated, Bay Area neighborhoods.
